This past Sunday was spent diving deeper into the Parable of the Seed here at New Heart Church. Pastor Ben continued explaining the different types of environments that we often create in our lives.
The “Crowded Environment” is one that does exactly that…it crowds out the work that God is trying to do in us. When the worries of this life arise and begin to take over our hearts and minds, God’s seeds are unable to grow in us and we are left seedless.
Jesus gives us a solution to this crowded, worry-filled way of living by asking this question: Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
Above all else we need to remember that worrying is worthless. It is only when we are able to give up all of our worries and trust God that he is truly able to plant his seeds in us.
“Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.”
“Pray and let God worry.”
Pastor Ben went on to explain how the deceitfulness of riches can lead us into a crowded, seedless environment. Although money in itself is not a bad thing, oftentimes we let money have us instead of making sure that we have it. When we are finally able to keep control of our money and keep ourselves from worrying too much about it, God is all the more able to plant his seeds in our lives.
“Money never made a man happy yet, nor will it…instead of filling a vacuum it makes one.”
We’ve asked ourselves this question before, and after this week we can ask it again: What kind of soil are you?
