Yesterday marked New Heart’s final “Heart for the House” Sunday of the year, and boy did we show what beautiful hearts we have for our house.
Instead of delivering a sermon today, Pastor Ben explained that we would be watching a short film shot by New Heart’s staff. He said that we would love it, and he was absolutely right.
The Heart for the House video was all about how two ordinary people found an extraordinary home in Broken Arrow, OK, and it was exactly the kind of inspiration that we needed as a church. It was absolutely incredible to hear the stories of Courtnay and Luke, and how they eventually found themselves in the midst of the love and warmth of New Heart Church.
Our film highlighted how necessary it is to be a church that truly welcomes people. Regardless of who they are, what they look like, or what their background is, we want to be a church that opens its doors to all.
The inspiration that was left stirring within all of us at the end of the video must have sparked some serious passion, because afterwards we raised over $23,000 for the Heart for the House offering. So awesome!
As a church, we will be using that money to expand our ministry capacity by making much needed improvements to our facility, and we will partner with “My Father’s House,” an orphanage in the Philippines—Pastor Mike’s mother’s orphanage to be exact! We are so excited to see the good that God can do through us in such a time of destruction and devastation in the Philippines.
And it is our hearts for His house that will make it all happen.
